Thursday, April 29th 2010 In class and Homework
A 4 page handout dealing with the important aspects of chapter 30, 35 and 38 was introduced. Students spent the period answering questions and drawing a diagram about different aspects of plant structure and function. Microscopes to view and sketch prepared slide specimens will be used tomorrow. The homework is to be through page 2 of the handout by tomorrow.
Wednesday, April 28th 2010 In class and homework
The instructor used a variety of animations to cover nerve cell function and muscle contraction. The homework is to read the 1st 7 pages of chapter 35 (plant structure).
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010 In class and Homework
The animal systems packet is due today. We spent the period using the computers and going to the Campbell site - Chapter 45 - to look at animations and to answer questions about the endocrine system (hormones). There is no new homework - only for those not finished with their mammalian system packets.

Monday, April 26th, 2010 - In class and homework
Students were given a key to the practice exam and were encouraged to check their work. The students had the remainder of the period to work on their systems packet. This is due tomorrow.
Friday, April 23rd, 2010 In class and Homework
(Note - Day 2 with a substitute due to a teacher conference). Students finished up the practice AP exam (handed out yesterday) and then worked on the animal systems packet. The homework is to continue to work on the packet (due Tuesday).
Thursday, April 22th, 2010 - In class and homework
(Note - Day 1 with a substitute due to a teacher conference). Each student received a 100 multiple choice question practice AP exam and spent the period working on this. The homework is to a) finish this if not in class tomorrow or b) continue to work on thie systems packet.
Wednesday, April 21st 2010 - In Class and Homework
We spent the period with the instructor using an animation from McGraw Hill to review the immune response; and then using the Campbell web site to show the animations concerned with Osmoregulation (the structure and function f kidneys). The homework is to continue to work on the animal systems packet.

Tuesday, April 20th - In class and homework
The students used the computers to study the last activity on the campbell site - Chapter 42 (the respiratory system) and immune response (Chapter 43). The homework is to complete pages 19 -21 of the Animal Systems packet.
Monday, April 19th, 2010 - In class and homework
We spent the period using the Campbell web site to go over the digestive and circulatory systems. The homework is to complete page 18 of the animal systems handout.
Friday, April 16th, 2010 In class and Homework
Day 5 of Mink dissection - primarily the muscles of the lower leg and cleanup. Homework is pages 13 - 17 of animal systems packet

Day 4 of Mink dissection - primarily the excretory and the reproductive systems. Homework is pages 10 - 12 of animal systems packet

Monday, April 12th, 2010 - In class and homework
We had 3 handouts today - our comprehensive animal systems packet (completed = 50 test points), our mink dissection guide, and our mink diagrams). We spent the 1st half of the period going through the chapter 40 online activities (tissue types and feedback types). We then picked up, rinsed and bagged & tagged our minks. The homework is to complete the 1st 3 pages of the animal systems packet.
Friday, April 9th, 2010 In class and Homework
(Substitute day) Quiz covering the material from Chapters 27, 28 and 31. The homework is to read the 1st 2 sections of chapter 40.
Thursday, April 8th, 2010 - In class and homework
(Substitute day) - The students spent the period reading and writing about the major characteristics and evolutionary milestones of plants and animals. The homework is to study for tomorrow's quiz (25 points covering chapters 27, 28 and 31 - the 2 study guides and the lab may be used for during the test.)

Notes - substitute teacher in today; no school for students yesterday due to grading day. The students worked on a 3 page handout with questions about the general characteristics and significant features of the fungi kingdom. The homework is to finish this handout.

We completed the observations for our Protist Survey Lab (6 additional slides). The homework is to complete the questions.
Wednesday, March 31st In class and homework
We wrapped up chapter 27 by going over the "Test Your Knowledge" section of our handouts. We then introduced protists and began a simple survey lab using prepared slides. We then received our Evolution tests back, with the opportunity to do test corrections (This is our homework).
